4-3 ATS PAC-10 GAME OF THE WEEK
2-2 ATS Last Week, 26-19 For the Year all lined PAC 10 Games
Short and sweet, game of the week
GAME OF THE WEEK (WEEK 8)
UCLA -3 VS. CAL
UCLA looked awful last week at Arizona, and this week returns home to play a feisty Cal Bears team that got pummeled its last time out vs. Oregon State.
As bad as they looked last week, UCLA has quietly won three in a row and is atop the Pac 10 for the time being. UCLA looked impressive its last time playing at the Rose Bowl, demolishing Washington 46-16. The last time UCLA played home to Cal it was a similar ass whoopin’, 56-17, but that was much worse Cal team.
I think last week’s game was UCLA’s let-down spot after beating Washington. And what we saw from Cal last time out is more what I expect from them the rest of the way. Cal is just not a very good football team. They are however, very well coached, but with only two senior starters on Defense, they are giving up 26 points a game, 31 if you exclude their whitewash of Southern Miss. UCLA has averaged 28.5 ppg the past four outings.
Offensively you can count on Cal to throw in a few new wrinkles, and they have had the bye week to get healthy. But I think they will have difficulty scoring more than 20 against UCLA, which means if UCLA matches the total average of Cal competitors it will cover.
Final Score: UCLA 27 – Cal 20
Rest of the Pac 10
Prophetablepicks stole my thunder earlier this week with his call of ASU whipping UNC this week, but I agree with him. Andrew Walter is finding his rhythm and is going to start putting up big numbers. This week he gets a horrible UNC team that struggled to put East Carolina away last week. This is also a revenge spot for ASU after losing at home to UNC last year.
Washington is going into Corvallis this weekend to try to right the ship against a Beaver team that is clicking on all cylinders. Steven Jackson, Steven Jackson, Steven Jackson. Remember the name, because he is truly special. I absolutely believe this line is inflated, especially because of what happened last week at Washington. Had Washington won that game like they should have, this line would be in the 4 to 6 range. So right away there is value with Washington. Now Oregon State has looked real good the past two games, and really is one of the best teams in the Pac 10. But if there is one way they can get beat it is the long pass, and Washington has the skill people to do just that. I think Oregon State wins, but Washington is the pick. Washington could even outright win the game.
Washington State goes into Stanford this week and I think we learned a little bit about Stanford last week vs. USC. They are talented, but very young and prone to mistakes. Washington State offers up arguably the best defense in the Pac 10, and I believe Derting will be playing by the second defensive series. Washington State should win this going away as they outmuscle Stanford in the 2nd half.
USC/Notre Dame. College Football at its finest. Last year some of you might remember I actually predicted the score of this game in a thread…44-13. I got ND +10 when this line first came out, but it has since dropped to 8. Since I bet with them, I’ll call this USC’s let down week, but do expect them to win by a touchdown.
I’d love to see Arizona play Oregon this week, as Oregon has quit, and Arizona is obviously inspired now that Mackovic is gone. Strong play against Oregon for the rest of the year! Sorry Gordon Gecko, your team, your coach, your yellow gay jerseys, and your fair-weather fans suck. But you are welcome to jump on the Beaver Bandwagon anytime.
Final Predictions:
ASU -5.5 at UNC: ASU 44 – UNC 27
Washington +10.5 at. OSU: OSU 30 – Washington 24
USC -7.5 at Notre Dame: USC 24 – ND 7
WSU -10 at. Stanford.: WSU 34 – Stanford 10
Good Luck to all.
